How the numbers are built

- Monthly billing is the published monthly list price times twelve.
- Annual billing uses the vendor's published upfront yearly price where one publicly exists — no invented discount percentages. Plans without an annual option stay on the monthly rate.
- Seats multiply each subscription independently; the per-seat figure divides the monthly-equivalent total across every seat in the stack.
- List prices in USD only, verified 2026-08-05: taxes, usage-based overages, and student or regional discounts are out of scope.

Is annual billing always cheaper?+−
Only where the vendor actually sells an annual plan. Of the presets here, Claude Pro, Perplexity Pro, Cursor Pro, and Midjourney Basic publish annual prices that undercut twelve monthly payments. ChatGPT Plus, Google AI Pro, and GitHub Copilot Pro are treated as monthly-only at list price here (Copilot’s former individual annual SKU is retired for new buyers), so the calculator keeps them on the monthly rate even when annual billing is selected. An annual plan only saves money if you keep the subscription for the full year.
Are these prices with tax?+−
No. The calculator uses USD list prices before VAT or sales tax, which depend on your country and sometimes your state. Regional pricing, student discounts, and promotional offers are also excluded.
Do I need both a chatbot and a coding assistant?+−
Sometimes. General chatbots keep adding coding features, and coding assistants can answer general questions, so the two categories overlap more every year. The calculator flags the combination because it is the most common double-pay pattern, not because it is always waste — the honest test is whether you genuinely use both every week.
What costs are not included?+−
Usage-based extras: API usage, credit top-ups beyond the included allowance (for example Copilot AI Credits or Cursor on-demand usage), and team or enterprise tiers. The calculator covers published individual list prices only.
