Wi-Fi, mesh and wired networking for real homes

Coverage, backhaul, wired ports, congestion and support matter more than the biggest theoretical Wi-Fi number.

The buying rule

Fix the physical layout and backhaul first; then choose the wireless standard.

Wireless performance depends on walls, neighbours, client radios and firmware. A search link is not a promise of coverage.

  1. 01TP-Link

    Deco BE65

A Wi-Fi 7 mesh direction for homes that need coverage and simple management.

    Best for
    House-wide coverage with a consumer-friendly setup
    Watch out
Wireless mesh nodes lose capacity when they cannot use a wired backhaul.
  2. 02ASUS

    RT-BE88U

    A high-end single-router direction with fast wired connectivity and Wi-Fi 7.

    Best for
Homes with a good central router position and wired devices
    Watch out
A powerful router in the wrong room is still the wrong network design.
  3. 03Ubiquiti

    UniFi Express 7

Current UniFi compact gateway. The original UniFi Express (UX) is a legacy SKU that Ubiquiti has marked sold out, with a narrower update path than Express 7.

    Best for
Small networks where UniFi control and room to expand matter
    Watch out
Do not buy leftover original UX stock as a current recommendation. Managed ecosystems trade simplicity for setup time.
  4. 04NETGEAR

    Orbi WiFi 7

A premium mesh direction for large homes that need broad wireless coverage.

    Best for
Large layouts where a multi-node system is unavoidable
    Watch out
Premium mesh pricing does not replace Ethernet backhaul or sensible node placement.
